Berry Picking - Wild Strawberries and Huckleberries are found throughout the mountains surrounding the area.

Bicycling - The Easton area offers many bicycling options.  The John Wayne Trail and the Snoqualmie Tunnel are great for beginners. While the Forest Service Trails are for the more experienced.  During the summer months the Summit at Snoqualmie Pass offers convenient chairlift service via the Central Express.  You can access the Pacific Crest, Mount Catherine and Twin Lakes hiking trails from there. You can rent bicycles from Easton Rentals located on Sparks Rd East in Easton.

Boating - We have several lakes in the area that are great for fishing and waterskiing. Lake Easton is a non-motorized lake that is great for fishing.  You can also rent fishing boats and pedal boats at Easton Rentals.

Camping - There are several campgrounds in the Easton area. Visit the Lodging page for a current list.

Fishing - Big Fish are in abundance throughout Kittitas County and the Cascade Mountains.  Lake Easton, Lavender Lake, Easton Ponds and the Yakima River are favorite spots for fisherman.  They are all easily accessed right off of I-90 from exit 70 to exit 85.  For information regarding Fishing Licenses visit the states website at www.wdfw.wa.gov .  Also visit Easton for their annual Fishing Derby. One is held for children and one for all ages.  Watch the Events Calendar for information on next years dates. Golfing - Sun Country Golf Resort is located 8 miles east of Easton at Exit #78.  They offer good fairways, quality greens, beautiful mountain scenery, water in play on four holes. Call for info at (509) 614-2226. The Arnold Palmer-designed Prospector Course recently opened at Sundadia. On Interstate 90, take exit 80. Proceed north for 2 miles.  At the traffic circle turn left into Suncadia.  For questions call (866) 715-5050.

Hiking - Iron Horse State Park is a great place for hiking and is right in Easton. This park has 275 miles of trail from North Bend to the Idaho border and is on e of the longest linear parks known. You can additional information at www.parks.wa.gov/parks/ and click on list of parks by name.

Horseback Riding -  Saddle up and enjoy trails meandering through forests or along open ridge-lines with jagged peaks at your fingertips and jewel like alpine lakes glistening far below. Contact Happy Trails for Horse Rentals and tours at (509) 656-2634.

Kite Flying - Upper Kittitas County is a very windy place usually in the spring time.  We have several places that are great for flying kites. 1. Speelyi Beach at Lake Cle Elum is located on Hwy 903 past Ronald, then turn left on Lake Cabins Road.          2. Centennial Park is located on Third and Yakima in Cle Elum.

Mushroom Hunting - The Sons Of Italy have hosted a mushroom contest every year since 1962. Entries can be taken to Glondo's Sausage Company in Cle Elum until Friday, June 25, 2004.

Rock Hunting - You can spend days and weeks and still not exhaust the collecting possibilities that are available in the Easton Area. Gold is sometimes found in many areas of the upper Cle Elum River Valley. Also look here for crystals, agate and thundereggs.  A trip south of Cle Elum up behind Peoh Point and on toward Quartz Mountain will reward you with agate, thundereggs and more.

Skiing & Boarding - Snoqualmie Pass is located 15 miles west of Easton and is host to some of the best skiing, boarding and tubing in the state. Visit their website at www.summit-at-snoqualmie.com

Snowshoeing - The Forest Service at Snoqualmie Pass offers guided interpretive snowshoe walks each winter. The walk is one mile of easy to moderate terrain and requires no expertise.  The entire walk takes about 90 minutes with the last section of trail offered for snowshoeing practice, play and fun.  Cal the Visitor Information Center for reservations and directions at (425) 434-6111.  There is also a 11.2 km along the shoreline of beautiful Lake Keechlus.  It is a part of the John Wayne Pioneer Trail.  This trail is fun for beginners and advanced users, with groomed track for cross country skis and trails for snowshoes.  It is not difficult and big enough for the whole family.

Swimming - Easton has a variety of rivers and lakes in the area for swimming. Lake Easton is located within Lake Easton State Park. It has overnight camping and day use areas. Check out the Lodging Page for information on the state park.  Lake Kachess and the Yakima River are also a quick drive from Easton.

 
Totally Tubular Winter Park - Located at Sun Country Golf Resort, six miles west of Cle Elum, Exit 78 on Interstate 90. Call them at (509) 674-2226 or visit their web site  at       totally-tubular.com. Hyak Sno-Park located on Snoqualmie Pass has a free sledding hill. It is located next to the Iron Horse State Park trailhead. You need to take Exit 54 and head south to the stop sign.  Turn left and follow the samll Hyak signs.  Turn right at the Iron Horse State Park and Hyak sign and to the parking lot. Park Rangers monitor the hill and Sno-Park for safety during weekend and holiday hours.

Wildflowers - Every spring, as snow recedes in the Cascade Mountains, wildflowers start to bloom.  The opportunity to enjoy a hike under a sunny sky and experience the panorama of nature's paintbrush lures people of all ages. Wildlife - We have a variety of wildlife in the area. Elk, deer, coyotes and an occasional bear have been spotted off of Interstate 90. Cougars have been tracked in the hills around Easton and Cle Elum.
